FAYETTEVILLE – A Fayetteville man is dead after a home explosion police say may have been caused by a faulty propane heating system.
Heating specialist Michael Johnson says accidents like this can often be avoided by having home heating systems inspected at least once a year.
“It’s starting to get cold. Now is the time to start calling around and seeing if you can get someone to check it. And things like this, it’s really not expensive, especially when you’re thinking about that cost if something goes wrong,” said Johnson.
It’s unclear whether the man killed in Saturday morning’s explosion kept up with regular inspections.
Johnson says an accident like this one isn’t entirely uncommon, but the best way to ensure the safety is to hire a professional to service it.
